At the start of another school year, we would like to welcome back all of our families and say a special welcome to our new parents and carers. Many of you will already know about the Friends of Lydgate Association (F.O.L.A.), which organises many events throughout the year for both pupils and parents. Events we have organised have included a Bring & Buy Sale, Decorated Egg Competition, 'Stars in Your Eyes' Competition, Quizzes and Summer BBQ, as well as regular discos for the children.

These events do play an important role in raising funds for items that cannot be obtained from limited school resources. Over the last few years, money has been raised to make improvements to the playground, to buy books for our new library and also equipment for the computer suite.

Your support and participation is vital to enable F.O.L.A. to continue to provide additional resources for the school. F.O.L.A. would welcome anyone who is interested in becoming a committee member. The committee meetings are informal and friendly and are usually held in the library area.

If you are unable to give a regular time commitment, helping out occasionally and supporting events are equally important and a good opportunity to get to know other parents and the school better.

Can you help F.O.L.A.? If you can, look out for letters regarding meetings. If you cannot attend the meetings, but you would like to become a committee member or help at events, please let us know and we will add your name to our list of volunteers.
